Baseband Distortion Modeling for a Parametric Loudspeaker System Using Volterra Kernels

چکیده

A directional sound beam can be generated by a parametric loudspeaker system through the nonlinear interaction between finite-amplitude ultrasonic waves in air. However, this nonlinear interaction also produces harmonic components in addition to the desired audible sound. In order to investigate this nonlinear phenomenon, a baseband distortion model is developed from nonlinear system identification using Volterra kernels along with results obtained from both numerical simulations and actual measurements that take into account the emitter’s response. A nonlinear model with reduced complexity to the 2nd-order Volterra kernel is found to agree with the mathematical model. Based on this model, we can predict the total harmonic distortion in the far field and perform compensation to remove it.

On nonlinear amplifier modeling and identification using baseband Volterra-Parafac models

The baseband Volterra–Parafac model is a useful tool to represent a nonlinear communication channel with a parametric complexity reduced with respect to the full Volterra model. In this paper we include additional symmetry properties of real power amplifier kernels in the equivalent baseband Volterra-Parafac approach in order to gain a further reduction in the number of parameters. To illustrat...

Multivariate Formulation

This paper presents a technique for modeling nonlinear distortion of multirate time-varying communication circuits. To properly consider the weakly nonlinear distortion effects in circuits with multiple large-signal excitations, we capture the quasiperiodic boundary condition of the system Volterra kernels using a multivariate formulation. We then extend the model order reduction work of [8][9]...

Linearization of Loudspeaker Systems Using a Subband Parallel Cascade Volterra Filter

In this paper, we propose a low complexity realization method for compensating for nonlinear distortion. Generally, nonlinear distortion is compensated for by a linearization system using a Volterra kernel. However, this method has a problem of requiring a huge computational complexity for the convolution needed between an input signal and the 2nd-order Volterra kernel. The Simplified Volterra ...

Decoupled Second-order Volterra Filter Structure Using the Nlmf Adaptive Algorithm for Nonlinear Acoustic Echo Cancellation

The paper proposes a nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation setup based on a decoupled scheme of the second-order adaptive Volterra filter. The acoustic distortions that take place in the Loudspeaker-Enclosure-Microphone setup are modeled using measured linear and quadratic Volterra kernels. The adaptation of the filter weights is achieved by exploiting the Normalized Least-Mean-Fourth algorithm....
